One of the biggest events to happen to Celtic in recent years could turn out to be the knee injury suffered by goalkeeper Craig Gordon in January.
The shot stopper’s injury has been a game changer at Parkhead, leading to Scott Bain signing for the Hoops on a permanent deal after a loan spell, and the former Dundee man has been excellent in every match he has played thus far for the Hoops.
Bain’s signing should see the end of Gordon’s time with the Hoops, as he has had a good career with the Bhoys, but his perpetual injury issues are starting to have a real toll on his time with the Bhoys.
Of course, most people thought that Gordon’s career was over before the joined the Hoops in 2014, as he had spent almost two years out injured after leaving Sunderland.
He has proved to be a good, and at times excellent goalkeeper, but the doubts have always been there and even though he has been a mainstay for the Hoops this season with 44 appearances, the Hoops now have another goalkeeper at the club who is as good as the number one.
The previous Hoops goalkeeping number two – Dorus de Vries – just does not cut the mustard, and the Hoops should give him a free transfer in the summer.
The summer should also see the end of Gordon’s time at the club – he has been a good servant, but Bain should be the new number one for the Bhoys.
