Gabriel Agbonlahor has been left baffled by Neil Lennon’s decision to take his Celtic players on a training camp to Dubai straight after they lost 1-0 to Rangers.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Aston Villa and England striker claimed it was an especially strange decision given the Hoops play host to Hibernian on Monday.
Celtic have drawn criticism from fans and politicians for the timing of their trip as Scotland entered a fresh coronavirus lockdown this week.

Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon says the club has questions to answer over the trip but the Scottish FA currently have no plans to investigate.
Elite sports teams are allowed to leave the country to compete in competitions like the Europa League and Celtic insist they were given permission by the government to fly to the Middle East.
Asked by Football Insider what he made of Celtic’s decision to go to Dubai given the current circumstances, Agbonlahor said: “I don’t think it’s great timing. They’ve just lost the Old Firm.
“It was probably booked before that, to be fair.
“I think in these times, with the pandemic, I don’t think it’s the wisest decision from Neil Lennon taking his players to Dubai.
“I don’t think there’s any need at the moment.
“It’s not as if they’ve got two weeks without a game – they’re playing on Monday.
“It’s a strange one, to be honest, it doesn’t really make sense.”
The Scottish Premiership usually enjoys a two-week winter break in the new year but that has been scrapped this season.
Celtic faced an increasingly congested schedule this term as they had last season’s Scottish Cup to complete and the preliminary rounds of the Champions League then Europa League.
