Tony Xia: This is what I am expecting at Aston Villa next season
By Amir Mir
Tony Xia has stated that he is expecting a “very special” season at Aston Villa when the new Championship campaign kicks off in 2017/18.
Villa manager Steve Bruce will be under massive pressure to help the club earn promotion to the Premier League as they have most likely missed the chance to do so this term.
The Midlands outfit are currently 11 points adrift of the top six with eight games of the season remaining.
Out of the three clubs that were relegated from the top tier last term, only current Championship leaders Newcastle look likely at making an instant return.
Nonetheless, Xia issued this response to a supporter who informed the club’s owner that they had renewed their season ticket for the following campaign.

Chinese businessmen Xia took charge of Villa in June, replacing Randy Lerner and appointing Italian Roberto Di Matteo in the hot seat.
The former Champions League winning manager was sacked after 11 matches, with Xia then bringing in former Hull City boss Bruce.
After a positive start to his reign, Villa suffered costly defeats in January and February, including losing five games on the bounce.
That added with Villa’s 12 draws from 38 games this season, has damaged their chances of earning instant promotion back to the promised land.
Villa have purchased 17 players since their relegation last season and are likely to dip into the transfer market once again in the summer.
