Tottenham will be “chuffed” about being knocked out of the League Cup after suffering a 3-2 defeat to West Ham on Wednesday, according to a top journalist.
Oliver Holt, the chief sports writer for the Mail on Sunday, made the shock claim on his personal Twitter account that the club would have been happy to see their cup run come to an end at the round of 16, suggesting they would rather focus on more major trophies.
Great result for West Ham etc etc. But Spurs probably pretty chuffed to be out of Carabao Cup. Can get on with trying to win big stuff now.

Tottenham are four time winners of the League Cup, their most recent title coming in 2008, which is also the last time the club picked up silverware of any kind.
However they will be unable to add to that total after letting a 2-0 lead slip at Wembley, with an Andre Ayew double cancelling out first half strikes from Moussa Sissoko and Dele Alli before Angelo Ogbonna headed home a winner for the Hammers.
Both sides went into Wedesday’s clash in vastly differing form, Spurs having thrashed Liverpool 4-1 in their last match which West Ham had been humbled at home by newly promoted Brighton.
However it is the Hammers who progressed into the quarter finals at the expense of Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who will be looking to return to winning ways on Saturday when they visit second placed Manchester United in the Premier League.
In other Tottenham news, fans were savage in their criticism of one man in their defeat to the Hammers.
