Darren Bent claims that West Ham youngster Grady Diangana can play a significant role for the Irons next season after his form on loan at West Brom.
The former Tottenham and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, has been left drooling over the 22-year-old and insists he can be a driving force for David Moyes.
Diangana, who has just 10 starts for the east Londoners, has scored six goals and five assists under his belt for the Baggies this season.
He remained at the Hawthorns past the January transfer window, with the Hammers choosing to sign Jarrod Bowen from Hull to bolster their options out wide.
As revealed by Football Insider earlier this year, West Ham are looking to raid the Championship again this summer, this time for QPR attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze.
Bent admits he was surprised not to see Diangana return to the London Stadium over the winter but insists he could form part of a formidable forward line next season.
Bent told Football Insider: “They’ve got the guy on loan at West Brom – Diangana – he’s another top, top player, he’s been brilliant for West Brom this season.
“It really surprised me in January that they didn’t take him back.
“He’s a top player and if that’s the route they’re going down – they bring him back, they brought Jarrod Bowen from Hull and he’s been an absolute revelation, if they can get him (Eze) from QPR as well, he’s been absolutely top drawer – I really like the direction they’re going in.”
Diangana has a total of 21 appearances under his belt for the senior side at West Ham, the majority of those coming between October and December 2018.
Bowen meanwhile has played just four times since his move from Hull, his first goal coming in a 3-1 win over Southampton.
In other West Ham news, a “huge” player update at the London Stadium has left an ex-striker delighted.
