Tottenham may sack Jose Mourinho at the end of the season but Harry Kane is correct to continue to support the manager.
That is according to ex-Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively after Football Insider revealed that Kane has privately given his backing to the under-fire Spurs boss.
The 27-year-old told friends that Mourinho remains the right man for the job despite the club’s recent struggles.
Spurs are down to 9th in the league and have taken just seven points from the last 21 available.
Agbonlahor says that Tottenham may have a decision to make at the end of the season but that Kane is correct to continue to back the manager.
He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “I think sometimes managers need that from the players and sometimes players need that from the manager.
“Often a player will go through a run of bad form and the manager backs them.
“So I think it’s nice to see from Harry Kane because we know Mourinho’s under pressure.
“There are good names being floated but it depends on how this season goes. If it’s really poor then maybe that’s something they have to look at in the summer in terms of Mourinho’s future and the sack.”
Kane has been in stunning form so far this season, averaging a goal or assist every 69 minutes across all competitions.
Tottenham are six points outside the top-four with a game in hand and are set to play Manchester City in April’s League Cup final.
