Tottenham knew manager Mauricio Pochettino had a meeting with Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu in Spain this week, according to a report.
ESPN have claimed the the north London club were aware of the get-together, which has naturally fuelled some speculation as to where the Argentine’s future lies.
But, the report has looked to put an end to the rumours and ESPN cite a club source who has told the pair have been friends for years and met in a central Barcelona restaurant.
The La Liga giants will currently be on the search for a new manager with Luis Enrique revealing he would leave the club in the summer.
Pochettino’s name has been one mentioned in line to take over from the Spaniard due to his success in England with both Southampton and Tottenham.

But, it is now assumed that this meeting will have a similar end to the one he had with Sir Alex Ferguson last year, which started up concerns that he would be leaving for Manchester United before Jose Mourinho took charge.
Pochettino still has four years left on his contract in north London and he will lead Tottenham out against Burnley at Turf Moor after the international break.
In other Tottenham news, Spurs fans have named this 38-time capped international as the club’s worst ever player.
