Tottenham backed to seal 'great' Kane player-plus-cash deal after Athletic update - Robinson
Tottenham should demand £100million plus Aymeric Laporte from Manchester City for Harry Kane, according to Paul Robinson.
The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed such a deal would be “great” for Spurs given Kane is 28 and injury prone.
According to The Athletic (22 June), Laporte and Riyad Mahrez could be used as potential makeweights in a deal for the England captain.
Manchester City had an opening bid of £100million turned down by the north London club earlier this week.
Spurs are in a strong position to negotiate as Kane still has three years remaining on his contract.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of a player-plus-cash deal, Robinson said:

“There is talk of £100million plus Sterling or Laporte. To me that is looking like a great deal for Spurs.
“Laporte is a world-class centre-half and we know that Spurs are in desperate need of a centre-half. Laporte is the main player at the back for Spain now and he has done brilliantly since he moved to Manchester City.
“Harry Kane was at the peak of his powers last season but he is 28 and has had his fair share of injury problems. You will probably only get 25 games out of him a season for the next four years.
“If you can get £100million plus one of City’s top players then it is a good deal for Spurs.“
