Sources: Nuno wants Tottenham to sign England star to be his 'lieutenant' next season
Nuno Espirito Santo wants Tottenham to pursue Wolves star Conor Coady this summer if he becomes their new manager, Football Insider understands.
The centre-back, 28, was discussed as a top target by Nuno when he spoke to Everton earlier this month.
A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that Coady has also been mentioned during talks as Nuno suggests potential reinforcements during the window.
The Portugese, 47, regarded the Liverpool academy product as his “lieutenant” and Wolves and wants him for a similar leadership role at Tottenham.
Spurs will be in the market for at least one, and potentially two, senior centre-backs ahead of the new season.
They have been linked with multiple potential targets and that has continued as Nuno talks with the club advance.

Football Insider first broke the news on Wednesday (23rd June) that Spurs were holding talks with Nuno and revealed yesterday that he has agreed salary terms with the club.
Negotiations are continuing and there is an expectation a deal can be finalised as early as tomorrow night.
Nuno’s admiration for Coady is well known and he missed just one Premier League game in three seasons under the Portugese at Wolves.
Tellingly, the Midlands outfit need to offload some of their star men before they can make any major summer purchases.
That could mean them listening to offers for ex-Liverpool academy product and boyhood Red Coady.
Coady is currently with England at the Euros after being selected as one of the senior centre-backs.
John Stones and Harry Maguire have emerged as Gareth Southgate’s first choice pairing, with Tyrone Mings filling in during the opening two matches against Croatia and Scotland.
