Tottenham backed to sign 'different level' Hojbjerg upgrade as move reportedly made
Noel Whelan has claimed Tottenham could sign an upgrade on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 31-year-old is a “different level” to the current Spurs star.
As reported by Spanish publication Sport (July 1st), Tottenham have asked about taking Pjanic on loan for next season.
It is said the 31-year-old is one of a few players Barcelona are looking to offload.
Whelan admitted Hojbjerg had struggled to demonstrate his best form since joining from Southampton last summer.
He suggested Pjanic could replace the Denmark international were he to join Spurs ahead of next season.

“They’ve got Ndombele, they’ve got Hojbjerg there as well, ” Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“I don’t think the Tottenham fans are that overwhelmed by Hojbjerg right now.
“He needs a lot of work as well in pre-season. He’s done okay in the European Championships but Pjanic is a different level to me. That’s why he’s been at Barcelona.
“I think the biggest factor is experience. You need players you can trust. The experienced players that know how to control the game, dictate a game.
“Someone who’s going to be a presence on the training ground and in the changing room, to bring that calmness and that experience to a team.
Hojbjerg played 53 times across all competitions for Spurs last season, with two goals and five assists under his belt.
Meanwhile, Pjanic made 30 appearances during his first season with Barca.
