Tottenham tipped to sign 'next Maguire' after inside source reveal - pundit

Harry Souttar is an “absolute giant” who can emulate the career path of Harry Maguire if he signs for Tottenham this January.

That is the view of ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 6 ft 5 in Stoke City centre-back.

A Tottenham Source told this site on 25 October that Nuno Espirito Santo is keen on luring Souttar to Spurs.

The Portuguese manager attempted to sign the 23-year-old during his time at Wolves and is understood to be a big admirer.

Souttar enjoyed a breakthrough season in the Championship last term and has also piqued the interest of Aston Villa and Everton.

The Australia international, who is under contract until 2025, has captained Stoke on four occasions this season.

And Kenny argues that he could reach dizzy new heights with an elite club like Spurs.

“He is an absolute giant and he has great potential,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“Stoke are doing well this season and he is playing really well. It’s the perfect place to make a name for yourself, the Championship.

“He’s a great age and playing alongside better players week in, week out in the Premier League will make him even better.

He could be someone who comes through and ends up making a real impression.

“We’ve seen the likes of Maguire and Stones come from the Championship and end up playing for top clubs as well as the national team.

“I don’t see why Souttar couldn’t follow the same path at somewhere like Tottenham and be the next Maguire.”

In other news, Nuno will be thrilled as Fabio Paratici talks for “high calibre” Tottenham signing reported.
