Tottenham ready potential £80,000-a-week deal for key player after speculation - report

Tottenham are confident that Dele Alli will sign a new contract with them following claims that he is changing his agent, according to a report.
The Telegraph claims that Spurs are preparing to offer Alli, 21, a new deal potentially worth £80,000-a-week, putting him above Christian Eriksen in the wage order in North London.
Spanish outlet Don Balon has reported that super-agent Jorge Mendes has promised the England international a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid next summer if he signs for him.
However it is now reported that Spurs are keen on handing Alli a new bumper deal to see him commit his future to North London after becoming one of the Premier League’s best young talents in recent seasons.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is known to be a shrewd negotiator when it comes to contracts and it is understood that Alli is by no means one of the top earners at the club despite being arguably one of the most influential players.

The Telegraph reports that the key Spurs player is currently earning around £50,000-a-week on his existing deal which has five years left to run on it after he agreed terms to it last September.
It is believed that this new bumper contract will see Alli’s stay extended by an extra year but will still be short of the club’s top earner Harry Kane, who is earning £100,000-a-week.
Football Insider Verdict
Alli’s future has to be one of the top priorities for Levy. The Spurs chairman has been criticised and hailed for the way he controls the wage budget in North London, but players like Alli should not be given any shortcomings when it comes to a new deal. Mauricio Pochettino and his side will be much worse off without the midfield dynamo and he is key to whatever success they dream of having in the Premier League, or even on a European stage. Next up for Spurs must be to secure the futures of Kane and Toby Alderweireld. Both of them have seen their future come under scrutiny as of late. It’s time for Levy to start offering his players the wages that fit a top Premier League side.
