Sources: Tottenham close in on jawdropping Antonio Conte agreement
Tottenham are offering Antonio Conte a new deal worth more than £20million-a-year, sources have told Football Insider.
The club are trying to tie down the Italian manager, whose current 18-month deal is due to expire at the end of this season.
Tottenham are in talks with Conte over an extension that would be worth in excess of £20m – equivalent to around £400,000-a-week – and make him the best-paid manager in the Premier League.
The north Londoners hierarchy are increasingly confident of securing an agreement with the 53-year-old.
Ideally, Spurs want something formalised before the January transfer window as negotiations continue.
The club are unperturbed by criticism in some quarters of Conte’s counterattacking style, particularly in the wake of him replacing two attacking stars with defensive players after 10-man Spurs went 3-1 down to Arsenal last weekend.

Conte has transformed Tottenham since taking over from Nuno Espirito Santo in November 2020.
He led the team to a fourth-place finish last season and into this campaign’s Champions League after a spirited finish saw off Arsenal.
Spurs’ fine start this term was knocked by last weekend’s supine derby defeat to their north London neighbours but they are third in the Premier League table going into Saturday’s fixtures.
Conte’s side have 17 points from eight matches, four behind leaders Arsenal, and have taken four points from their three Champions League matches following a win, draw and defeat away to Sporting Lisbon.
They are in action against fourth-placed Brighton in a 5.30pm Saturday kick-off.
