Tottenham could sign 'next Hojbjerg' this summer after Sky transfer reveal - Phillips

Tottenham could find their next Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in Lyon defender Joachim Andersen, according to Kevin Phillips.

The 2000 European Golden Shoe winner, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 24-year-old could have a surprising impact in north London much like Hojbjerg has since arriving from Southampton last year.

Sky Sports claim Spurs are keen on signing the centre-half in the summer following an impressive loan spell at Fulham.

Lyon are said to value the Denmark international, who has three years remaining on his contract, at around £20million.

Andersen has impressed in his 30 Premier League appearances for the Cottagers this season, but it has ultimately been in vein after the London club suffered relegation last Monday.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Andersen would be a welcome addition to Spurs’ squad, Phillips said: “I think he would be a clever signing.

“It is another case of the big boys coming sniffing for the top players at the relegated sides. It will be very difficult for Fulham to keep hold of Andersen if Spurs came in with a bid.

“We have seen Rodon come in and do well for Tottenham this season and I think he will turn out to be an excellent player and Andersen could be another one. It might not be an overnight success but if you get him at the right price, it could be a great signing.

“Look at Hojbjerg, he’s been fantastic for them this season. I didn’t think that was going to be this good. Andersen could be a similar sort of signing for Spurs and be the next Hojbjerg in that way.”
