Tottenham expected 4-2-3-1 v Bayer Leverkusen: Kane back and midfielder dropped

Mauricio Pochettino should name a strong side for the Champions League tie against Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday, but all eyes will be on Harry Kane as he is expected to make his return from the bench ahead of the north London derby on Sunday.

Spurs are currently in second place in their Champions League group after beating CSKA Moscow, drawing with Leverkusen in Germany and losing to Monaco.

Pochettino knows that a win on Wednesday would leave them in a strong position to qualify, but a loss could leave their destiny out of their hands.

Despite the lure of an intense Premier league encounter with Arsenal on Sunday, Pochettino can't afford to rest his stars and will want to give Kane some game time if his goal machine is to have any chance of playing at the weekend.

Vincent Janssen should start up top after his first Premier League goal, and he will be in search of his first goal for Spurs in open play.

He should be supported by Dele Alli, Son Heung-min and Moussa Sissoko, who is available during his three-match domestic ban.

Erik Lamela is not 100% and might start from the bench along with Christian Eriksen, who has been urged to find the goal more by manager Pochettino.

Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele should start ahead of a back four of Danny Rose, Jan Vertonghen, Eric Dier and Kyle Walker.

Toby Alderweireld has been ruled out and could also miss the Arsenal game on Sunday.

Hugo Lloris will try to keep Leverkusen at bay from between the sticks, aided by the Premier League's tightest defence.
