Tottenham expert fumes at 'complete disaster'
The Tottenham academy’s participation in the recent Terborg tournament was a “complete disaster”.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
A Spurs youth side participated in the Dutch tournament last week (starting 23 May) but finished bottom out of the eight teams involved.
Wenham admits he was left “gutted” by the results.
“Well it started quite positively but it has turned into a complete disaster,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“We finished bottom of the eight teams out there. I’m gutted for the lads. We drew 1-1 with Genk in the first game which was a really good result.

“So it started positively and we then lost to Brazilian side Fluminense in a game where we had a penalty saved at 0-0 then lost 1-0.
“That was very frustrating. Then our results went off a cliff, losing to a local Dutch side and losing again to Borussia Monchengladbach.
“Had we scored that penalty, the confidence might have been there to go on and do well. These tournaments have such a quick turnaround.
“We basically got there the night before the start of the tournament, played the first game, played the second game in the afternoon, then played two games the next day.
“That brings an end to the academy season and as I have said before, I think we will have a really good year next year.
“We can have a really good go at winning the Under Premier League.”
