Tottenham have held talks over a January move for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos as he looks to secure an exit from the Spanish giants, according to a report.
Football news website calciomercato claim that the 21-year-old is unhappy about the amount of playing time he has been afforded by manager Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu, and is looking to make a shock exit after having joined from Real Betis over the summer.
It is said that a whole host of clubs across Europe are looking to take advantage of his situation, with Spurs joined by the likes of north London rivals Arsenal as well as Italian giants AC Milan and Roma in looking at a potential swoop.
The youngster has made just 11 appearances for the current Champions League holders, with just four of those coming in the starting XI, and is contracted with Real until 2023.
Football Insider verdict
It is strange that the young midfield maestro is looking to secure an exit so early on in his Real Madrid career, as he must have known he would face a fight for time in the starting line up with the talent already at the club. At 21-years-old, he has the future to look forward to, but he appears willing to sacrifice his time at the European giants in order to secure first team action. Tottenham seem in need of midfielders who can help break down defences and that very well could be Ceballos, but what would it mean for the likes of Dele Alli and Harry Winks? Plus, would Real be willing to lose a future talent permanently just six months after signing, or would a loan move be in their best interests?
