Tottenham fans have besieged Toby Alderweireld after he tweeted about Easter Sunday's clash against Chelsea.

Alderweireld, 29, is not expected to be in the starting line-up for the London derby showdown at Stamford Bridge in the afternoon after it was widely reported that he will be leaving Spurs in the summer.

The Belgium international will enter the final year of his deal within the coming months and although there is an option of it being extended by an extra year, it would trigger a release clause of £25million.

Daniel Levy and Pochettino have been reported to have been in negotiations with the ex-Atletico Madrid and Southampton centre-back, but to no avail as he will most likely now be in his final few months as a Tottenham player.

Ahead of Sunday's game against Antonio Conte's side, Alderweireld took to his personal Twitter account to say that it is a "massive matchday" for the club.

The centre-back was then inundated with Spurs fans who are desperate for him to sign a new deal.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Alderweireld has been a key player for Spurs over the past few seasons but has been hampered by a hamstring injury he sustained against Real Madrid in November for most of this term.

He has made 105 appearances in all competitions since moving to North London in 2015, scoring six goals.
