Tottenham fans react as Eric Dier stars for England in narrow defeat
By Russell Edge
Tottenham fans had a number of reasons to keep an eye on last night’s international friendly between Germany and England, as three of their players were in action at the Signal Iduna Park.
Dele Alli, Kyle Walker and Eric Dier all played the full 90 minutes as the Three Lions slipped to a narrow 1-0 defeat thanks to a stunning strike from Lukas Podolski on his final international appearance.
And while it was the German forward who stole all the headlines, Tottenham fans were impressed with what they saw from Dier.
The 23-year-old, who has had to fill-in in defence for Spurs this season, was back in his normal midfield role and fans were happy with what they saw.
He scored the winning goal in a 3-2 win over Germany last year, and although last night couldn’t see him repeat his heroics, some fans thought he was still the best player on the pitch.

Good to see Dier perform quite well in the midfield role tonight. Reminder of how good he is there. #COYS

a quality act that will make a success of whatever Poch asks of him. Still only 23 with his best years some way off still.

Dier thrives in a centre mid role. If Wanyama, Moussa and Winks weren't better options he'd be a weekly midfield fixture for Spurs.

England don't deserve to lose this, my MOM DIER ????????????????????????

For some fans though, it wasn’t about his performance, but whether he came through the game unscathed.
