Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante won the PFA Player of the Year on Sunday night – and Tottenham fans took to social media to disagree with the decision.
The 26-year-old picked up the individual accolade and beat his Blues teammate Eden Hazard to the award.
Meanwhile, Tottenham’s Harry Kane, Everton’s Romelu Lukaku, Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez also missed out after making the six-man final shortlist.
Kante could be on course for the Premier League title as his Chelsea team sit at the top of table and he has been an ever-present in Antonio Conte’s side this season.
However, London rivals Spurs will be hoping they can pip Chelsea to the league crown and are just four points behind them, with the PFA Young Player of the Year Dele Alli playing a major role for them during the campaign.
Spurs fans disagreed with Kante receiving the main award and feel that he made little impact at the weekend.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side slipped to a 4-2 defeat against Chelsea on Saturday in the FA Cup semi-finals, but midfielders Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama certainly tested the qualities of Kante.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
It's embarrassing for English football that a athlete and a player breaks up the play is player of the year…diabolical decision #Kante

Kante voted POTY as ball-winning central mid. Spurs played entire match in Chelsea's half of pitch yesterday. #COYS

Kante has made a colossal impact at Stamford Bridge since his arrival in the summer and lifted the Blues to the summit of the table, despite struggling in mid-table last season.
The French international has helped improve the side with his defensive qualities, which help him screen the backline so well.
He has also developed the offensive side of his game this season and looks very comfortable in possession, while retaining his brilliant ability to break up attacks.
Kante has made a sensational impact in English football and played a pivotal role in Leicester winning the Premier League title last season, something he could emulate with Chelsea.
In other Tottenham news, Harry Kane has delivered his verdict ahead of their game against Crystal Palace.
