Tottenham fans have given a mixed reaction to former player Gareth Bale after he made praising comments about the club on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old Real Madrid star left Spurs four years a go in a world record £85.3million switch to the La Liga giants in 2013.
He was part of the Tottenham for six years after signing from Southampton for just £7million and in his time at the club he returned 56 goals and 58 assists in 203 outings.
The Wales international helped Spurs to two fourth place finishes in 2010 and 2012 and he has now told the Telegraph that the north London side have laid the right foundations to win their first Premier League title, while also praising Mauricio Pochettino.
Normally, comments like these would be received favourably on social media and while many Tottenham fans opened up their arms for Bale to return to the club, others were less than impressed.
One fan took the chance to post four snake emojis at the former Spurs hero, while another stated him and Real Madrid should stop talking about current star Dele Alli.

Tottenham are currently battling for the league crown with seven points separating them from top of the league Chelsea.
But, with just seven matches left of the league season time could be running out for the team from north London.
