Tottenham fans react to Janssen Twitter post ahead of Swansea clash

By Will Butcher

Tottenham fans have called on Vincent Janssen to rediscover his goalscoring form on Twitter after the striker posted a message to fans ahead of Wednesday night’s clash against Swansea.

Janssen, 22, has failed to replicate the kind of precision in front of goal that earned him a move to north London in a £17million deal in the summer from AZ Alkmaar.

With Harry Kane set to remain injured until at least the middle of April, Spurs’ number nine could lead his side’s attack at the Liberty Stadium against Paul Clement’s side.

The striker started against Burnley on Saturday and could be handed another start after posting on his personal Twitter account ahead of the clash.

The message saw fans back Janssen to up his goalscoring form against the Swans, after impressing against Burnley last time out without finding the back of the net.

Moving to Spurs after scoring a huge 32 goals in 49 league and cup appearances for AZ last season, the Holland international has managed just five goals for Spurs.

Only one of those has come from open play, but Mauricio Pochettino is expected to keep his faith with the young Dutchman as he looks for his side to keep the pressure on Chelsea.

Spurs reduced the gap at the top of the Premier League table to just seven points on Saturday, as Antonio Conte’s side lost to Crystal Palace while Pochettino saw his side overcome Burnley.
