Daniel Munoz's stance on joining Tottenham revealed after latest
Daniel Munoz will have second thoughts about joining Tottenham Hotspur from Crystal Palace this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The 30-year-old is being heavily linked with a move to Spurs as Roberto De Zerbi aims so strenghten his squad at full-back following Djed Spence's move to Inter Milan.
Crystal Palace, meanwhile, have completed the permanent signings of Oscar Mingueza and Anan Khalaili this summer, both of which play in that right-wing-back role.
However, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Munoz is unsure about joining Tottenham as he would not be a guaranteed starter.
Pedro Porro is currently seen as the first choice in his position under De Zerbi, and it is unlikely that the Colombia international would be able to oust him from his spot.
Instead, he would be forced to become a backup or rotation option, but Munoz would prefer to play every week as he has done since he joined Palace in 2024.
Could Tottenham make a move for Daniel Munoz?
Former Spurs scout Bryan King told Football Insider that Spurs are set to be more active in the market following Spence's sale, although he warned them against panic buys.
Munoz is one of a number of players to be linked with a move to North London following their recent sales, but that now looks increasingly unlikely.
Crystal Palace boss Pierre Sage also commented on the speculation and insisted Munoz remains part of his plans, so any talk of a move to Spurs can likely be put on ice for now.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "It's a difficult one, obviously, for Munoz himself, because if he goes to Spurs, is he going to be playing regularly?
"Pedro Porro is likely to be the first choice right-back at Tottenham next season, but Spurs are looking to add cover in that position, having sold Djed Spence to Inter Milan.
"Munoz would tick a lot of boxes because he's Premier League proven, he's a player who would definiely add to the attacking options at Spuirs.
"But he’s probably not a top priority for Tottenham right now they're obviously looking at more attacking areas of the team.
"I'm sure there'll be interest in Munoz because of what he's done for Crystal Palace in the Premier League as well but I don't think it's a top priority target for Spurs right now."
Which other clubs are interested in signing Munoz?
Given the possibility that Munoz will be available to leave Crystal Palace in the closing stages of the transfer window, a number of their Preimier League rivals are on alert.
Tottenham are not the only club keen to explore his sitaution, with Palace potentially prepared to listen to offers of around £25million after landing his long-term replacements.
Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider on 18 August that Everton have been holding serious coversations about bring Munoz to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
David Moyes is keen to add a right-back to his squad before the window closes, and the two clubs already have good relations following their dealings this summer.
However, there are concerns about whether Munoz would be the right fit for Everton given his place as a wing-back rather than a full-back, and that could deter them from making a move.
