Everything Ange Postecoglou said about Dominic Solanke as Nottingham Forest 'plot' move

Nottingham Forest are reportedly considering a move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke this summer.

The Englishman has struggled with injuries during his two years with the Lilywhites, after joining in a deal worth around £64million from Bournemouth.

Ange Postecoglou was in charge when the 28-year-old arrived, and oversaw his best period of form.

Solanke scored 16 goals and provided eight assists across all competitions in his first season, but scored just six goals in 21 appearances last season and could now be sold.

Roberto De Zerbi is keen to oversee a complete overhaul of his squad at Tottenham, and is course to spend well over £300m.

With the likes of Cody Gakpo, Omar Marmoush and Savinho linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, others will have to make way.

What Ange Postecoglou said about Dominic Solanke

Solanke has been extremely unlucky with injuries at Tottenham, and there has always been a feeling that he would have thrived without them.

The 2021-22 season at Bournemouth was the striker's first sign of being a reliable goal-scorer, when he netted 29 goals in the Championship.

After a year of adaptation to the Premier League, the former Chelsea youngster netted 19 in the top flight and convinced Tottenham to splash the cash to bring him in.

Solanke's 16 goals and eight assists in 45 games across all competitions was not at all a bad return, especially considering the injuries that seemed to constantly halt his form.

Speaking after his arrival, Postecoglou said: "He was obviously one I was very keen to get in. I think he will be a great fit for us in terms of the player he is and the point of his career where he is at.

"We identified him because he has the attributes we are looking for in terms of our position. He gives us some things we probably have been missing in the last 12 months, particularly when Richarlison was out last year.

"When Richy played he was very effective for us, it was quite evident when he was out we didn’t really have a player who can make the impact. Dom can in the final third and just with his general play. I think he will be a good fit for us."

Where would Solanke fit in at Nottingham Forest?

There is still plenty of uncertainty surrounding Nottingham Forest's squad next season, but it is clear that they want a striker.

Igor Jesus will certainly be part of the crop that starts the season, yet the same cannot be said for any of Oliver Glasner's other front men.

Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi both have just one year remaining on their deals and could leave this summer, while Arnaud Kalimuendo-Muinga had looked set to leave.

The Frenchman has impressed in pre-season, however, and could yet be a part of the Nottingham Forest team.

For Solanke, the question of a move to the City Ground likely depends on the outcome of that situation, with playing time a must.
