Tottenham tipped to sell Dominic Solanke and Richarlison in 'part-exchange' for Sandro Tonali

Tottenham Hotspur should sell Dominic Solanke and Richarlison in part-exchange for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali.

That is the opinion of former senior Tottenham scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

The North London club have reached an agreement to sign the Italy international, who is keen to depart from St James' Park, for a fee of £100million.

Tonali, 26, is under contract until 2028, but is keen to leave Newcastle for a team better equipped to challenge for trophies.

Tottenham have already made four signings this summer, with Mateus Fernandes expected to join Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson in the coming days, after an £85m deal was agreed with West Ham.

The capture of Tonali, who has attracted interest from Arsenal and Manchester City, would be a big coup for Tottenham.

On paper, Tottenham have already spent £137m this summer, and that is not to include agent fees and the other fees involved in such transfers.

Should Tonali arrive in a deal worth around £100m, they will have already broken their record spend for a single window.

Sales will be necessary, and the likes of Luka Vuskovic, Lucas Bergvall and Cristian Romero look as if they will be going the other way.

"If Tonali went, then why not [Dominic] Solanke or Richarlison the other way? As well as money, I can see that part-exchange happening," King told Football Insider.

"Somebody's got to go. If they're going to bring the boy in from Newcastle, Tottenham, somebody's got to go.

"If Tottenham want to bring in a player of that quality, they've got to get rid of a frontman," he added. "Because it's the only way they're going to fund it or make it look sensible."

Tottenham summer far from over

Tottenham have already addressed their defence with three signings, and could soon have solved many of their issues in midfield.

Questions remain in attack, however, and the Lilywhites will not be done before those are answered.

Richarlison represents the only reliable striker at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and there is much to be desired on the wings.

Tottenham needed a response after two consecutive 17th-placed Premier League finishes, but not many fans would have expected them to blow their transfer record out of the water.
