Ex-Tottenham scout demands two more Spurs stars leave duo agree moves - 'They have to go'

Tottenham Hotspur should look to move on either Richarlison or Dominic Solanke after agreeing to sell Djed Spence and Cristian Romero.

That is the opinion of former senior Tottenham scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

Both strikers have found their future in doubt this summer, with moves possible in the closing weeks of the transfer window.

Solanke has attracted interest from Nottingham Forest and could push for a fresh start, while Richarlison has just a year remaining on his contract and will leave for free next summer if no agreement is found.

Roberto De Zerbi is overseeing a complete overhaul of his Tottenham squad, with both the defence and the midfield having seen dramatic changes.

The Italian's attack will be next to be addressed, with Liverpool's Cody Gakpo and Manchester City's Savinho considered the top targets.

Dominic Solanke and Richarlison 'aren't right for Tottenham'

Tottenham have been attempting to replace Harry Kane since the day he joined Bayern Munich in 2023.

Richarlison had already been in North London for a season by that point, but he, along with the likes of Brennan Johnson and Solanke have all been signed with replacing Kane's goals in mind.

Simply put, they have failed to do so. Solanke netted 16 goals across all competitions following his £64million move, but has been hit by injury after injury since.

Richarlison was a rare standout for Tottenham last season and scored 11 Premier League goals, but much more was expected of him after his £60m move from Everton.

"Solanke to replace Harry Kane? Yeah, alright. Then, of course, Son [Heung-min] went, they've got Richarlison," King told Football Insider.

"One of them has got to go, one of them must go. I'm fed up of saying it. I think the pair of them aren't right for Tottenham, and that's it. I'd have had them out. Certainly one last season, and then one now."

Roberto De Zerbi disagrees

Ultimately, the decision over Tottenham's strikers will fall to the lap of De Zerbi and surprisingly, the Italian has publicly called for both players to stay.

"Sometimes he said to stay, sometimes he leaves, we have to speak," he said on Richarlison earlier this month. "Anyway, there is not any problem, he’s a lovely guy.

"All of us love him, the teammates, the club, the staff, because he works hard every day. For me he’s still an important player because it’s not so easy to find another striker [like] Richarlison, because Richarlison scored goals and he knows the way."

On Solanke, De Zerbi's sentiment was similar. Last week, he said: "I like him as a player, I like him as a guy. There are not many strikers better than Dom Solanke in the Premier League.

"I want to keep him, because I like him as a player, he's complete as a striker. He can attack the space, he can cover the ball, he's able with the ball to link, he's able to score 15-20 goals in Premier League."

It remains to be seen what will happen in the closing days of the window, but it appears that De Zerbi's mind is made up.
