Four Tottenham legends 'disappointed' by what happened vs Forest - 'The players were aware'

Pat Jennings, Osvaldo Ardiles and several other Tottenham Hotspur legends were left disappointed after making the trip to Saturday's 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest.

That is according to former senior Tottenham scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

The Lilywhites extended their winless run to three Premier League games to kick off the new season, despite spending well over £400million in the transfer window.

Tottenham at least kept a clean sheet at the City Ground, but created very little and were ultimately fortunate to come away with a point.

Neco Williams found the back of the net for Nottingham Forest, but the goal was disallowed on review for a controversial claim of handball.

Tottenham's next chance to avert their torrid Premier League run will be against Everton in North London on Saturday.

Tottenham were 'nowhere near it'

After defeats to Brentford and Newcastle United to start the Premier League season, the trip to Nottingham Forest looked to be a chance to take advantage of another team in poor form.

Oliver Glasner's team are yet to win in any competition this season, losing twice against Leeds United and drawing with Liverpool.

But the game was ultimately a close contest, with neither team creating enough to be labelled deserving winners.

"There was a group of [ex-]Tottenham players who made the journey up. Paul Miller, Pat Jennings, Ozzy Ardiles, Mark Falco all made the journey up there, hoping it was going to be a win," King told Football Insider.

"And to be honest, all of them sounded quite disappointed, although a little heartened by the performance. But these guys have made the journey. The players are aware of it.

"So let's reward these legends with a good performance and three points. Nowhere near it."

Positives to take for Tottenham

While Tottenham have gone a third consecutive match without winning, there were positives to take from Saturday's draw.

The Lilywhites were better at the back and conceded just 0.92 expected goals, with Antonin Kinsky forced into just one save.

Tottenham did not have a shot on target, but they did create 1.06 expected goals and enjoyed two big chances.

One of those fell to Omar Marmoush, and in him, Roberto De Zerbi will hope to have a goal-scorer ready to hit form.
