Luka Vuskovic one of two Tottenham stars 'keen' to agree transfers after three deals agreed

Tottenham Hotspur appear to have been backed into a corner in their attempts to keep hold of Luka Vuskovic.

Sources have told Football Insider that Brighton have submitted a third bid worth £45million for the 19-year-old, who is "keen" to leave the club this summer.

The Lilywhites are set to hold talks regarding the future of the young defender, who is currently with the Croatia camp at the World Cup.

Vuskovic joined Tottenham all the way back in 2023 but did not officially arrive until last summer, with his loan move to Hamburg this season seeing him explode onto the European scene.

The Split-born talent is recognised among the most exciting young defenders in Europe, and decision-makers at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium have been keen to keep hold of him.

Their actions in the transfer market have not told the same story, however, with three defenders already having arrived this summer.

Tottenham may be forced into Luka Vuskovic sale

After going so close to relegation from the Premier League, Tottenham have been very active in the early weeks of the transfer window.

Not many would have expected such a strong start this summer, however, with the £52m arrival of Jean Paul van Hecke from Brighton marking a third signing already.

The other two - Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson - have signed on free transfers, and bring both Premier League experience and quality.

And for good reason. It is no secret that Cristian Romero is likely to leave after the World Cup, and Tottenham have been shocking defensively of late.

But the potential loss of Vuskovic may be an unfortunate consequence and on paper, it is hard to blame the teenager.

With Micky van de Ven, Kevin Danso, Radu Dragusin and Romero still at the club, he currently has six senior centre-backs blocking him from the first team.

With the alternative an attempt to convince an unhappy player to stay and likely go out on loan, Tottenham may well see £45m and decide to accept what their ambition has caused.

Where would Vuskovic rank among most expensive Tottenham sales?

Harry Kane's £86.4m move to Bayern Munich and Gareth Bale's £85.3m move to Real Madrid stand out as Tottenham's biggest-ever sales.

Kyle Walker's £50m move to Manchester City in 2017 is the next most expensive after that, and the fee then drops to £30.75m with Dimitar Berbatov's sale to Manchester United in 2008.

Should Vuskovic move for £45m, he will become the third-ever most expensive Tottenham sale. A significant sell-on clause could see him earn the club even more in the future.

The North London club will be well aware that the centre-back could easily be worth more than £100m in the future, and that any fee right now will still manage to sting.
