Ryan Mason is seen as a candidate who would be a "good fit" to replace Igor Tudor at Tottenham Hotspur, sources have told Football Insider.

The interim boss is under pressure at the North London outfit at the moment, and it is understood that he faces a crucial couple of weeks to ensure that he is protected from the sack.

The Lilywhites would turn towards another short-term appointment if they were to pull the trigger on the Croatian, and sources have indicated that Mason is a likely candidate to take the reins, due to his previous experience in the role.

Tottenham's latest managerial plans will see them make a new long-term appointment in the summer, but there is a feeling that they may still need somebody else to come in and steady the ship before then.

Who else has been linked with the Spurs interim job?

Mason left Tottenham last summer having built up an impressive reputation as a coach during his time working in their academy setup.

However, things quickly went downhill in his first permanent managerial role at senior level, as he was sacked by West Brom in early January after a 10th consecutive defeat away from home.

His spell at the Championship outfit had begun in promising fashion before turning sour, and he could soon be set to return to familiar surroundings at Spurs.

He has held the interim position on two previous occasions in 2021 and 2023, and is now among a group of familiar names who are currently being linked as potential options.

Veteran bosses Harry Redknapp and Tim Sherwood have been linked with the role until the end of the season, while even Tottenham legend Glenn Hoddle has put himself forward as a candidate.

However, at the moment it is Mason who appears to be seen as the most realistic option.

Tottenham board to be 'forced' into Igor Tudor sack

Football Insider recently revealed that Tottenham will be "forced" into sacking Tudor if the club fall into the relegation zone in the coming weeks.

The North Londoners have now lost five consecutive Premier League games, and their most recent defeat to Crystal Palace has left them in their most perilous position yet.

Tudor's men are now just one point above the bottom three heading into next weekend's visit to Liverpool, and they face the daunting prospect of potentially being leapfrogged by both Nottingham Forest and West Ham if results do not go in their favour.

That looks set to be the final tipping point for the board, given that it would really set the alarm bells ringing for them in terms of the relegation picture.
