Nottingham Forest have had a 43million bid rejected for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall, sources have told Football Insider.

But the east Midlands club have agreed a new contract with Neco Williams as they continue a summer overhaul that will see Elliot Anderson join Manchester City in a £116million deal.

Replacing the talented midfielder will be one of Vitor Pereira's trickiest challenges ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, even with Ibrahim Sangare, Nicolas Dominguez and Ryan Yates available.

Sources say Forest are working on signing Bergvall as a replacement and have already made a formal offer that has been knocked back.

Tottenham are believed to be adamant that the rising star will not leave despite news that he is keen to move away this summer due to a lack of game time.

The Reds already appear to be putting plans in place, and some of the money incoming from Anderson's move could be about to be reinvested straight away.

Curtis Jones, Arne Engels and and Davide Frattesi have all emerged as potential targets in addition to the younger Bergvall.

Will Nottingham Forest submit a improved bid for Lucas Bergvall?

What would be surprising were if Evangelos Marinakis and Co. came back with a much higher offer.

Although Bergvall is clearly a talented player, he is extremely inexperienced and would need time to adapt to a new system, new coach, and new environment.

However, Tottenham agreed the signing of Mateus Fernandes for a club-record fee of £85million.

That opens the door for Forest to try again for Bergvall despite protestations from Spurs about letting him go.

Who are Forest facing competition from this summer?

Stefan Borson told Football Insider that Bergvall will be just one of multiple departures under Roberto De Zerbi this summer.

Many would think that would lend Forest to getting a cheaper deal, but with the number of teams interested, his price tag could actually skyrocket.

Aston Villa, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Napoli have all been credited with interest, and Liverpool have previously tried to sign the Sweden international.

Those are some serious names that the 20-year-old could join ahead of next season, so it certainly makes sense that Forest would be willing to overspend to get his signature.
