Roberto De Zerbi's stance on Tottenham exit revealed after sack call

Roberto De Zerbi is not concerned about his position as Tottenham Hotspur manager as things stand, sources have told Football Insider.

Spurs have failed to win any of their opening four Premier League games this season, and are still without a goal, following their 0-0 draw at home to Everton on Saturday.

This has led to growing frustrations in the stands and behind the scenes, with questions already being asked of the manager's position after a miserable start to this term.

However, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, De Zerbi is confident of turning things around and believes he has the board's support.

Sources say Tottenham are reluctant to sack their manager after he saved them from the embarrassement of relegation from the Premier League when he came in last season.

Despite that, with growing calls for his head, the pressure on De Zerbi's position is mounting, and there is a feeling the club's stance will eventually have to change.

Could Tottenham pull the trigger on Roberto De Zerbi?

Football Insider revealed on 12 September that Tottenham could be forced to sack De Zerbi if their nightmare run of form continues after what has been a disastrous start.

Any manager in the Premier League would face pressure after going four games without a win or a goal, and this situation is no different given the expectations at Spurs.

While the club remain hopeful that De Zerbi will turn things around, and the boss is confident that will be the case, results must change sooner rather than later.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Look, no manager in the Premier League can go on for too long with a losing start to the new season.

"That’s the job, this game is based on getting results and Roberto De Zerbi will be fully aware of that. Two points from four games is not good enough.

"He's definitely got time on his side, De Zerbi, for what he did last year when he came in and rescued the club and made sure they didn't suffer the ignominy of Premier League relegation.

"It will take time for these new players to bed in and get used to their new surroundings and to perform to their highest level as well.

"So De Zerbi is confident that he can turn things around at Spurs and he believes he does have the support and the backing of the Tottenham board as things stand.

"There'll be no knee-jerk reactions at Tottenham. The club are fully behind De Zerbi and they see him as the man to get things right."

When could Tottenham sack De Zerbi?

Tottenham's stance remains the same as the start of the season: they are backing De Zerbi and believe he is the man to bring renewed success to the North London club.

However, each passing result is seeing their resolve tested, with the fans now beginning to voice their frustrations and fears of another negative season.

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider that Tottenham are willing to give De Zerbi until the November international break to prove he deserves his position.

Following the draw against Everton, Spurs will face Liverpool in the League Cup and a visit from Aston Villa in the Premier League ahead of this month's break.

However, a decision is not expected to be made just set, with a mid-November deadline more likely to be given for De Zerbi to turn the club's results around.
