Tottenham are planning to hold talks with Ben Davies over extending his contract beyond next June before the season ends, sources have told Football Insider.

Davies is into his 13th season at Tottenham since joining the club from Swansea City all the way back in 2014 and many expected him to go at the end of the current campaign.

The 33-year-old signed a new one-year contract extension with the club in June despite making just five appearances across all competitions last season.

He remains an important figure behind the scenes at Spurs and has scored in both of his competitive appearances since the start of this campaign.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Spurs are keen to sit down with Davies and his representatives in the coming months to discuss another potential one-year extension.

He could have a key part to play under Roberto De Zerbi this season, as his leadership qualities may prove vital in their quest to push back up the Premier League table.

Ben Davies could extend his Tottenham stay to June 2028 soon

Davies has made over 350 appearances for Tottenham in the last 12 years, and has 104 Wales caps to his name too.

He is the club's longest-serving player by some way and they are keen to see him stay as long as he is content with his on-field role.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "If he's contributing, I still think there's a possibility that there could be a new deal. Both the club and the player will be happy to revisit things closer to the end of the season, to see if there's a willingness from both parties to do a new one-year deal, which would suit everybody, it seems.

"Davies has been a great servant to Tottenham, which is why he has stayed at the club for so long and obviously why they have been happy to give him one-year contracts."

Pedro Porro considering Tottenham exit as European giants circle

Porro has been Spurs' starting right-back over the last few years and recently helped fire Spain to World Cup glory as a regular too.

His future has been under the spotlight in recent months as top European clubs eye a move, with Spurs tying the 27-year-old down to a new deal, as a result.

Sources have now exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Porro will seriously consider leaving Tottenham in 2027 if either Barcelona or Real Madrid make attempts to sign him.

It remains to be seen if one of La Liga's giants makes a formal approach for his services, with Porro still focused on Spurs aside from that interest.
