Tottenham cost of 'sacking' Roberto De Zerbi revealed

Roberto De Zerbi is likely to survive the season at Tottenham Hotspur, with his sacking coming at a very expensive cost.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that the Lewis Family would need to pay out double-digit millions to sack the manager.

In their first four games of the Premier League season, the Lilywhites failed to hit the back of the net in two defeats and two goalless draws.

Despite over £300million being spent in the summer window, Spurs' big names were not producing the goods, seeing them fall way down the table.

Supporters are already calling for De Zerbi to be relieved of his duties, but he is not yet the favourite Premier League boss to be sacked next.

Manchester United's Michael Carrick currently holds that title, according to the bookmakers at least, with Alvaro Arbeloa and Frank Lampard also under pressure.

Roberto De Zerbi sack would cost '£20m'

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson predicts Spurs' owners to back De Zerbi before making a hasty decision that could cost them £20m.

"Well, it won't be cheap. Most of these managers receive a six-to-12-month termination. I would think De Zerbi is on 12 months at least," he said.

"So £10m [to sack him] plus £10m to bring somebody new in. I don't think we're anywhere near the point where Spurs are going to think about doing that.

"Realistically, they've backed him quite aggressively. I just don't think they're in that frame of mind.

"I think they're in the frame of mind that they'll back him and back him and back him. I don't think they'd even consider doing something until the summer. But famous last words."

Who could be Tottenham's next manager?

While the Lewis Family have invested heavily in the current manager, it will be difficult to ignore the team's struggles at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The latest update from the bookmakers have Eddie Howe priced as the favourite to replace De Zerbi, who has been out of work since stepping down at Newcastle United.

Sean Dyche, Vitor Pereira, Julien Nagelsmann and Gareth Southgate are all amongst managers currently without a job, so they could be considered.

Signing a free agent would certainly drive the price down when it comes to replacing De Zerbi, with only their wages to think about in North London.
