As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, the 25-year-old is exploring a move away from the Ligue 1 side and may be keen on a move to North London.
He is already familar with the area and English football, having been raised in the capital before he made his way through the academy of arch-rivals Arsenal.
Folarin Balogun open to leaving Monaco as Spurs register their interest
Balogun made 10 senior appearances for the Gunners before he was sold to Monaco in 2023 after an impressive loan spell at Reims.
He may feel like now is the right time to take the next step in his career after three seasons with the principality club, especially after scoring three goals in four games for the USA at the World Cup and 19 times for Monaco last season.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "He's a player that's going to be on the radar of a number of clubs. Monaco would be open to a sale for Balogun at the right price.
"I think the player himself will be interested in a move away from the principality if the right opportunity came up as well. He had a good World Cup with the USA and a decent season for Monaco.
"I don't think there's anything too imminent on a possible move for him. He's just one of those players that's on the radar for Tottenham."
Tottenham to accept Pape Sarr offer after midfield additions
De Zerbi has focused on adding quality to his midfield options this summer to avoid another relegation-threatened campaign.
The arrivals of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes have raised doubts around the futures of certain players, with Sarr being one of those.
Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Spurs will accept an offer worth £30million for Sarr, who only started 13 league games last season.
