Tottenham rising star on the 'Jude Bellingham' track as deal agreed
The Bundesliga will be an ideal destination for the next stage of Tottenham Hotspur youngster Mikey Moore's development.
That is the opinion of former senior Tottenham scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.
The 18-year-old is set to join FC Koln on a dry season-long loan, with a full agreement reached between the club.
The German side and Tottenham are waiting for Roberto De Zerbi's final approval, which is yet to arrive.
The Italian may well need to see a new arrival in attack before signing off on the deal, which would leave his squad short as it stands.
Tottenham are heavily linked with Cody Gakpo and Savinho, with offers expected to arrive for both players.
Bundesliga will be 'great place' for Mikey Moore's development
Moore spent last season at Rangers, where he scored seven goals and provided four assists across all competitions.
The Scottish side wanted the winger back again for this campaign, but Tottenham have eyed the Bundesliga for his development.
The German top flight has been a home for a number of English talents in recent years, including Jude and Jobe Bellingham, Jadon Sancho, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Reiss Nelson and several others.
Moore looks set to be the next, with Tottenham hoping to see a stronger player return next summer.
"It didn't do Bellingham any harm, and it hasn't done Erling Haaland any harm. And it's certainly not done Harry Kane any harm," King told Football Insider.
"He's won two championships, two cups in the last three years, and super cups and everything else. I'm not sure whether Koln is the club that's going to [be right for him].
"You need a Bundesliga club that are going to be in the top five. That's for sure. Let's see how much they pay for his loan.
"If he's not going to get regular games at Spurs, and it don't look as though he is, then the Bundesliga is a great place to go and learn your trade on the next step."
What Jude Bellingham said about the Bundesliga
Bellingham's time at Borussia Dortmund played a massive role in his development.
The midfielder spent three years there before joining Real Madrid in a deal worth up to £115million in 2023.
"The only thing I was bothered about in making this decision was playing football, and it was the best place to do that," Bellingham told the Guardian in 2020 when asked about his decision to join Dortmund.
"There’s plenty of young players out there who, if given the chance, would shine at first-team level but they don’t quite get the chance for whatever reason.
"I’m almost an example, as well as many others in our first team at the minute, to just give them a chance, throw them in the deep end and see what they can do. Because I think, as we start to learn more and more, there’s a lot more [young players] in the Championship now [who] can handle it.”
