Tottenham to 'laugh off' £25m offer for 'one of their key starters'
Tottenham Hotspur would be mad to even consider accepting £25million for Djed Spence this summer.
That is the opinion of former senior Tottenham scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.
Everton have been the club most strongly linked with the 25-year-old, and reportedly hoped to sign him on a cut-price deal.
Spence's displays at the World Cup for England look to have dashed those plans, however, with the defender putting his ability on full show to the world.
The full-back was among England's best players in the semi-final defeat to Argentina, and he was excellent as they beat France to finish third on Saturday.
Spence is under contract until 2029 with the option of an additional year at Tottenham, but may well be set to push for a move away this summer.

Spence has been one of the stories of the summer, recovering from early struggles at the World Cup to emerging among England's best players towards the end of the tournament.
While he may still have a future at Tottenham, the doors have undoubtedly opened to a potential move away.
The Lilywhites' purchase of Andy Robertson has largely replaced his role in the squad, with World Cup winner Pedro Porro untouchable on the right.
Tottenham will make sure to get the most that they can from Spence's sale if he does leave, however, and will surely laugh off an offer of £25m.
"That's ridiculous. That's ridiculous. Talking about the money for [Elliot] Anderson and [Morgan] Rogers and stuff," King told Football Insider when he heard that figure.
"You know, you'd be mad to sell him for £25m. You'd be mad to sell him, to be honest. If I was at Tottenham, I wouldn't want to sell him. He'd be one of the central pieces in my jigsaw for the starting XI."
Inter Milan interest will boost fee
Alongside Everton, Inter Milan have also shown a significant interest in a move for Spence.
Unfortunately, the name does not come with a guarantee of a sizable bid.
The Italian club can likely offer more than the £25m Everton are willing to pay, but whether they will, remains to be seen.
At the very least, Tottenham will hope that further interest will encourage more clubs to bid for Spence, pushing their asking price up.
