Tottenham's Roberto De Zerbi sack plan revealed

Tottenham Hotspur are willing to give Roberto De Zerbi time to turn their results around, sources have told Football Insider.

The boss has come under pressure in recent weeks due to Spurs' slow start to the season, as they have yet to win a game or score a goal in three attempts this season.

However, there are currently no plans to question his future, with the season still in its early stages and plenty of time for results to improve.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Tottenham believe De Zerbi has plenty of credit in the bank for the results he achieved last year.

Before his appointment in late March, Spurs looked likely to suffer relegation, but they stayed up on the final day of the season to West Ham's expense.

De Zerbi was key to their Premier League survival, and those results have won him the trust of the board and time to get things right despite frustrations this season.

What do Tottenham have planned for Roberto De Zerbi?

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider on 3 September that Tottenham are planning to stick by De Zerbi following what was a busy transfer window.

They are prepared to overlook what has been a slow start in favour of giving their new arrivals time to bed in and the manager time to get his ideas across.

Sources at Spurs have now echoed those claims, with De Zerbi not under any immediate pressure from the board, who are keen to support him in this transitional period.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "He's definitely got time on his side, De Zerbi, for what he did last year when he came in at the end of last season.

"He rescued the club and made sure they didn't suffer the ignominy of Premier League relegation as well. So I think we can't forget that.

"He did a good job in the short-term to keep Spurs up, and now the club have invested heavily in the summer to reshape the squad, so it will take time for these players to bed in.

"They have to get used to their new surroundings to perform at the highest level, and Tottenham are willing to give them time and give De Zerbi time for that to happen despite these early problems."

How long will De Zerbi be allowed time by Spurs?

Despite the building pressure from outside of Tottenham, De Zerbi has retained the support of the board for now, and remains focused on getting points on the board.

The manager himself has also clarified that he is not concerned about the way his side has performed and expects results to pick up in the near future.

However, Wyness told Football Insider on 9 September that Tottenham could give De Zerbi until mid-November before making a decision about his long-term future.

Despite having plans in place to support the manager and give him time, if he fails to turn their results around before the second international break, he will likely face pressure.

Concerns about performances and particularly their record in front of goal despite a busy transfer window have raised red flags, but the club are prepared to be patient for now.
