Gleison Bremer’s 0.79 and 4.63 stats show Tottenham can sign clear Cristian Romero upgrade
Tottenham Hotspur could provide a serious upgrade to their backline as Roberto De Zerbi targets Gleison Bremer as a replacement for Cristian Romero.
The Juventus star is reportedly top of Spurs’ wish list this summer transfer window, with Romero expected to depart after the World Cup.
The 29-year-old will not come cheap, with a £50million release clause attached to the Brazil international’s contract.
Yet, the stats show that Bremer is worth this gamble, with many being better than Romero’s at Tottenham this season.
Bremer played 26 matches in the Serie A throughout the 2025-26 campaign, scoring four goals.
This eventually helped Juventus secure Europa League football as they finished sixth in the Italian top-flight.
Gleison Bremer has some top stats
Tutto Sport on 9 June has claimed that Romero will do everything possible to leave Spurs after the World Cup.
As a result, De Zerbi now views Bremer as a potential replacement, with the centre-back intrigued by the Premier League and the Tottenham manager.
Luckily, many of his stats on Fotmob on 9 June show that the Brazil international is a clear upgrade on Romero.
Per 90 minutes, he averaged 0.17 goals, 0.12 assists, 1.32 interceptions, 4.63 recoveries, 0.17 times dribbled past, 0.50 clean sheets and 0.78 xG conceded on the pitch in the Serie A this season.
In comparison, Romero averaged 0.19 goals, 0.05 assists, 1.44 interceptions, 4.23 recoveries, 0.53 times dribbled past, 0.19 clean sheets and 1.36 xG conceded on the pitch per 90 minutes in the Premier League.
Therefore, if Bremer can repeat these stats in the Premier League, it should stop Spurs from conceding so many goals in the 2026-27 season.
Who else are Tottenham chasing this summer transfer window?
Former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider that Tottenham are in "fairly advanced" talks to sign Savinho this summer.
He believes that a move away from Manchester City could be announced within weeks as Spurs also look to upgrade their frontline.
The Lilywhites attempted to sign the 22-year-old Brazilian during the summer of 2025, and have now reignited their interest ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Savinho had struggled for minutes in the 2025-26 campaign and may now aim to reignite his Premier League career in North London.
