Lucas Bergvall has "no plans" to leave Tottenham Hotspur for Chelsea or Aston Villa if they are able to avoid a shock relegation from the Premier League, sources have told Football Insider.

Bergvall has emerged onto the respective radars of several top Premier League clubs as Spurs continue to battle at the wrong end of the table.

He has impressed this season, despite their struggles, and has the potential to be a top box-to-box midfielder in the years to come.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Bergvall is happy at Tottenham and will not consider leaving if they stay in the top flight.

It remains to be seen if his thoughts and Tottenham’s transfer plans would change if they are relegated, which is a genuine possibility ahead of a vital final five games of the campaign.

Lucas Bergvall is happy at Tottenham and is not planning to leave

Tottenham tied Bergvall down to a new six-year deal last summer, so will demand a hefty fee for his services regardless of whether they are relegated.

They may well be forced into a sale if they are preparing for Championship football this summer, but the 20-year-old will not push to leave North London to join the likes of Chelsea or Villa.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "They (Tottenham) really wouldn't want to see Bergvall move to some of their rivals in Chelsea or Aston Villa.

"With Tottenham, all the focus is on staying in the Premier League, as then they won't have to bat off this interest in some of their players.

"If they do suffer relegation, it's going to be a real battle to keep hold of some of their best players, and Bergvall, I'm sure, will attract a lot of interest.

"But I think right now he's under a long-term contract and it does seem Bergvall is happy at Tottenham and will be happy to stay if they do secure Premier League survival."

Conor Gallagher could leave Spurs as Everton eye loan move

Fellow midfielder Gallagher joined Tottenham from Atletico Madrid in January, but has struggled to make an impact as they battle the drop this season.

The 26-year-old has started nine of his 11 league appearances for the club so far, and despite his struggles, he was lauded for an improved showing against Brighton last weekend.

Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Everton are interested in signing Gallagher this summer to bolster their midfield ranks, with a loan-to-buy deal possibly on the cards.

He is another star who could leave North London regardless of whether they are relegated, but he looks set to be a key man under Roberto De Zerbi as Spurs fight to survive.
