Who is Ronny Moncur? Everything Tottenham fans need to know as gem signs new deal
Ronny Moncur is the latest name on the tip of everyone's tongues after the Tottenham Hotspur gem put pen to paper on a new deal.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder, who joined the Lilywhites at just eight years of age, has been a regular performance for the Under-18s over the last two seasons.
In 2025-26, he notched three goals and three assists in the U18 Premier League, having previously been part of the Under-17s Premier League Cup-winning squad in 2024/25.
Clearly making a positive impression over the last two seasons, the club feel that Moncur has done enough to earn a new contract, with a new announcement being made.
The likes of Junai Byfield, Callum Olusesi and Rio Kyerematen all represent a clear path through to the senior set-up. But can supporters expect to see Moncur included next season?
Roberto De Zerbi doesn't shy away from throwing youngsters in the deep end, and this player is bound to have attracted the new manager's attention.
Ronny Moncur comes from a footballing background
Moncur's family are certainly no strangers to football, with his uncle, John Moncur, featuring for the Lilywhites during the 1980s and 1990s.
He also became somewhat of a cult hero at West Ham United, where he retired from professional football following a decade of consecutive seasons in the top tier of the English game.
Moncur's grandfather, also named John, held senior scouting and youth development roles during a 25-year period in North London.
It almost feels like the 18-year-old attacker was destined to make it at Spurs, and it may be just a matter of time before supporters start seeing his name appear on the senior teamsheet.
What can supporters expect from the Spurs gem?
It would be fair to say that Moncur is still finding his feet as a footballer, with the player capable of playing anywhere in the attacking lineup.
While he hasn't especially been a big focus at Hotspur Way, there is a belief that the 18-year-old could be a hidden gem, just about to be discovered by De Zerbi.
Spurs' pre-season tour will be the perfect chance to understand what kind of opportunities will be presented to the young gem, and whether he has yet caught the first-team manager's eye.
Supporters are always waiting anxiously for the next superstar to emerge from their own academy. Fingers crossed that Moncur can be that for the Lilywhites.
