Tottenham are still in the hunt for Estudiantes’ centre-back starlet Juan Fouth alongside the potential arrival of Davinson Sanchez, according to a report.
The Mirror have claimed on their website that manager Mauricio Pochettino wants to add some depth to the centre-back position in his squad and that a deal for Ajax ace Sanchez won’t impact any move for Foyth.
It is also stated that while French giants Paris-Saint Germain looked to have taken an advantage in negotations for Foyth, the player has in fact been holding out in favour of a move to England’s capital.
The claim from the Mirror follows on from Sky Sports claiming on their website earlier in the month that Spurs had ended their interest in the young Argentine defender after Pochettino insisted that Estudiantes’ asking price was too high.
However, with 15 days left of the transfer window the Argentinian top-flight side may now be lowering their asking price on the defender, who has made just six senior appearances to date.
Football Insider verdict:
If Tottenham are chasing both Foyth and Sanchez then that would surely spell the end of Kevin Wimmer’s time at the club. The centre-back area is certainly not an immediate concern for Spurs given that both Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld in the team. However, a couple of signings of players of the ages of Sanchez and Foyth could be key to the club’s future. It was clear from the last campaign that Pochettino does not fancy Wimmer anymore and he is not the future of the club, which Foyth and Sanchez could be.
In other Tottenham transfer news, Spurs have given an emphatic response to this jaw-dropping bid from a Premier League giant.
