Tottenham are in the hunt to sign Chelsea winger Kenedy after witnessing his blistering form while on loan at Newcastle United, according to a report.

The Northern Echo claims that Spurs are understood to be keeping a close eye on Kenedy's performances for the Magpies ahead of the summer transfer window when he is due to return to Stamford Bridge.

It is said that the Brazilian flyer, 22, would consider quitting the Premier League title holders in order to sign for Newcastle permanently, however his head could be turned by a more prestigious move should there be one available to him.

Kenedy joined Newcastle in January and has been one of the key players in their recent surge up the standings.

He has made eight appearances for the Tynesiders, scoring two goals and supplying two assists.

The Daily Star reports that Kenedy earns £25,000-a-week in his deal at Chelsea.

Football Insider verdict

Kenedy has made a huge impression at St James' Park and it seems that when he is given some responsibility and a regular place in a first-team, he can get his head down and provide the goods. It's about time he quits Stamford Bridge though. The 22-year-old has been on Chelsea's books since 2015 but has only made 27 appearances for them in all competitions. There's very little chance he would break into a side which usually sees Eden Hazard and Marcos Alonso playing in his positions on the left. It would be best if he picks Newcastle as he knows he can perform there. Spurs may be a step too high.
