Tottenham insider: Dier 'jokes' a disgrace and more respect should be shown

Eric Dier’s continued run in the Tottenham side proves he isn’t a poor player amid criticism from other fans.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Dier, 27, has played every minute in both of Antonio Conte’s games in charge of Tottenham.

He also started every Premier League game under former boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

Wenham has called for more respect to be placed on Dier’s name, especially as has earned a Premier League player of the month nomination this season.

“For all the criticism and jokes fans of other clubs have for Eric Dier, he’s still here,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It should be said there are plenty of Tottenham fans who criticise him as well.

“Yet another manager has come in and immediately been selected twice.

“He’s played every minute under Conte so far. You can already get an idea of who Conte prefers.

“He needs a little bit more respect but I have been saying that for a while.

“People forget he was nominated for the Premier League player of the month back in August.

“He has a big two weeks now because he hasn’t been selected by England.”

Dier lead his side to a clean sheet as Spurs drew 0-0 with Everton on Sunday.

Tottenham are next in action against Leeds after the international break.
