Tottenham insider tips 'insane' Markanday to be promoted to first team 'after what I've seen'

Dilan Markanday will have the chance to impress Nuno Espirito Santo while training with the Tottenham first team over the next two weeks.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Tottenham have several stars away on international duty over the next 14 days, presenting the chance for youngsters to participate in first-team training.

Markanday, 20, has featured on the bench for Tottenham in the Premier League but is yet to make his senior debut.

He has been prolific in the Premier League 2 this season, bagging six goals and two assists in six games.

Markanday can play as an out and out striker as well as on both wings and as an attacking midfielder.

Wenham described the forward’s form as “insane” and tipped him to impress Nuno this week.

“The decision to leave Dilan Markanday out of the squad altogether [v NS Mura] was really poor,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He putting up insane numbers for the Under 23s this season, he’s scored in every single game this season.

“He wasn’t even included on the bench. With the players away on international, I hope the next two weeks are big for him.

“There are a few players away on international duty so I expect he will be called up to first-team training.

“That gives him a chance to impress Nuno and stake a claim for him to be included at least on the bench in some first-team games.

“I really hope we see him this season because from what I’ve seen, he’s a top talent.”
