Tottenham were joined by the likes of Newcastle United and Manchester United in scouting Olympique Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson over the weekend, according to a report.
Twitter account Scouts in Attendance, who have built up a reputation as a credible source for informing which teams’ scouts are where and who they are watching, claim that the Lilywhites and the Magpies were just two of a whole host of Premier League sides at Bordeaux’s stadium on Sunday for the 1-1 draw.

It is said they were watching 23-year-old versatile midfielder Sanson, who happened to net an injury time winner for the away side, his fifth goal of the season in France’s top flight for a club at which he is contracted until 2021.
Naturally operating in the centre of the park, the hot shot is able to play in a more advanced role or even out on the right flank, and has picked up 10 under-21 caps for France.
Football Insider verdict
There are some big names in pursuit of Sanson, and his goal scoring record looks set to make him one of the hottest pieces of property for the upcoming January transfer window. There should be doubts over whether Tottenham would be the right club for him, considering the vast amount of talent Mauricio Pochettino has at his disposal. Newcastle, who have a well known history of picking up talent from France, may be more in need of his services, offering goals from midfield which is something that Rafael Benitez is lacking. However, leaving Marseille, who are fourth in Ligue 1 and in the Europe League, for a mid table English side, may not be too appealing for Sanson, and as a result any side outside of the Premier League top six face a fight in convincing him to move. They say money talks, and if that is what it comes to then Newcastle may well miss out.
