Tottenham Sources: Significant Harry Kane update after ‘jaw-dropping offer’ submitted

Antonio Conte’s future will play a big role in Harry Kane committing to a new Tottenham contract, sources have told Football Insider.

The Londoners are yet to open talks with their star striker, 29, over an extension to his current deal, which expires in the summer of 2024.

Spurs are keen to begin negotiations, but Kane has held back from doing so.

Amid the key factors in his decision will be Conte’s plans as well as the club’s ambition to build on their impressive resurgence under the Italian.

The manager’s own contract is due to expire at the end of the season and Tottenham are working on extending his deal.

As revealed by Football Insider last week, Spurs are offering Conte a new deal worth more than £20million-a-year, equivalent to £400,000-a-week to keep him.

Negotiations are set to intensify during the mid-season break starting in November.

Kane and his representatives will closely monitor Conte’s own talks before deciding whether to commit to a deal that could effectively see him end his career at Tottenham.

The England star turns 30 in the summer of 2023 and that could be one of his last chances to secure a move to one of Europe’s elite clubs.

His own form has been outstanding this season in what has been the team’s best start to a league season since 1963.

Kane has scored 10 goals and supplied one assist from 14 matches in all competitions, with his ninth Premier League goal of the campaign coming in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Everton.
