'Not an easy situation' - Tottenham leader delivers verdict on flop's future
By Russell Edge
Tottenham goalkeeper and club captain Hugo Lloris has said that Moussa Sissoko has to be playing more during the upcoming season.
The 27-year-old midfielder managed to make 34 appearances across all competitions last season, although only 12 of those came in the starting XI.
After arriving from Newcastle in a £30million move, the French international flopped at White Hart Lane, as he failed to score a single goal, and managed to notch up just three assists.
Now, his leader for both club and country believes that the powerful midfielder needs to be seeing first team action if he is to be considered for France’s squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Lloris admits that it is a difficult time for both the player and Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, as Sissoko looks to improve on a season of disappointment.

He was quoted by the Sun as saying: “Moussa is important for the French national team. He needs to play more than last season.
“It’s not an easy situation for him, for the team and for the manager.
“Last season was a bit frustrating for him and he’s got a lot to prove, but Moussa is strong in his mind.”
Sissoko has 52 caps and two goals for the French national side, having made his debut during a 5-0 thrashing of the Faroe Islands back in 2009.
Able to operate in the centre of midfield or on the right flank, he has 143 Premier League appearances under his belt from his time at Newcastle and Tottenham, with 25 of those coming last season for the North London side.
However Sissoko’s short spell at the club could be coming to an end, with a report from Gunebakis claiming that Trabzonspor are in advanced negotiations to secure him on a loan move.
