Tottenham are reportedly in the hunt to sign Werder Bremen midfielder Thomas Delaney in the summer transfer window and with Mauricio Pochettino already well-stocked in the central positions, that may mean that someone is on their way out.

German newspaper BILD claims on their website that Delaney, 26, would like to move to the Premier League and Bremen could cash in on the Denmark international.

It is understood that the central midfielder would cost over £13million, which is a bargain for a player with his kind of experience and proven top-flight ability.

However Pochettino already has a wealth of options in midfield and that means fan favourite Mousa Dembele could be shifted out to make room.

Dembele, 30, is one of the oldest members of the Tottenham squad and it’s well known that Pochettino likes to keep the average wage down.

There has also been recent talk of interest in the Belgium international, which is something that cannot be said of Eric Dier, Victor Wanyama or Harry Winks.

The Sun claims that Dembele is wanted by Chinese Super League side Beijing Sinobo Guoan, who may tempt the midfielder to move to the Far East by doubling his £80,000-a-week wages to £160,000.

Chinese sides like to overspend on players and Daniel Levy would probably not turn down a massive transfer fee for a player who will turn 31-years-old in the summer.

Delaney is at the peak of his career and does a very similar role to Dembele.

He is not better, but he is a cheaper option and represents a good financial opportunity for Spurs which Levy would be licking his lips over.
