Top flight rivals to make January swoop for Tottenham star - report
By Russell Edge
Tottenham defender Danny Rose is a January target for both Chelsea and Manchester United, according to a report.
Italian football news website tuttomercatoweb claim that the Premier League giants are both looking to secure the English full back’s services, despite him not having made an appearance since January.
The 27-year-old has been ruled out of action after suffering ligament damage in Tottenham’s 0-0 draw with now-relegated Sunderland, with team mate Ben Davies taking his place at left back since the injury.
However, that has not stopped both the Blues and the Red Devils from courting the 12-time-capped England defender, and a move would end his 10 year stint at the club after joining from Leeds back in 2007.
Contracted to Tottenham until 2021, Rose has made 110 appearances for the Lilywhites across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and setting his team mates up for a further 21 assists.

It is very interesting that despite a serious long term injury, both Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte are keen on snapping Rose up. It is likely that both clubs have been scouting him for some time now, and they are confident he will return to his very best following his layoff. However, as has been proven numerous times throughout the years, a severe injury can really affect a player’s performances, and if Mauricio Pochettino feels Rose will not reach the same heights, then perhaps selling him is not the worst idea. If United and Chelsea are that interested, then Spurs could demand a hefty fee, knowing that they have a more than adequate replacement in the shape of Ben Davies.
In other Tottenham transfer news, a top flight side failed to snatch up one of the club’s top prospects last summer.
