Tottenham set sights on Paulo Dybala after ‘nearly getting a deal done’
Paulo Dybala could become available as a free agent in the summer with Tottenham Hotspur among multiple clubs on alert, sources have told Football Insider.
The 32-year-old has been a long-term target for Spurs after they came close to signing him in 2019 before the deal collapsed just hours before the deadline.
His performances for both Roma and Juventus over a number of years in Serie A have inspired a host of admirers who could now move to land him on a free.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, there is no shortage of interest in Dybala from clubs in England and across Europe.
Despite the Argentina international’s age and recent injury concerns, he is still very highly regarded, and Tottenham could alter their transfer plans to land the long-term target.

Last summer, Football Insider shared a list of players Daniel Levy failed to sign at Spurs chairman, with Tottenham missing out on multiple big names including Dybala.
However, they may now be presented with the opportunity to undo their previous mistakes in the market with a free transfer set to appeal as they assess their squad.

After four years at Roma, there is a growing possibility that he will leave the Serie A outfit on a free transfer, and a move to the Premier League is expected to be tempting.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “If he doesn’t agree on a new deal with Roma and becomes a free agent, there will be Premier League clubs looking at him.
“Tottenham have been long-term admirers of him, they tried to get a deal done for him a few years ago now, so I’m sure they will be aware of his situation.
“On his day, he’s a top player, he’s proved that over years in Serie A previously at Juventus and now at Roma as well.
“Maybe now because of his age, it might put a few clubs off and he has struggled with injuries this season.”
Which other long-term targets could join Tottenham?
Dybala is not the only player Spurs have been placed on alert over this summer, with a number of their long-term targets expected to become available.
Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga was first a target for Tottenham during his spell at Rennes in 2019 when they saw a bid for his services rejected.

More recently, Football Insider revealed on 20 May that Tottenham are interested in signing Camavinga amid suggestions he could leave Real Madrid this summer.
The midfielder was left out of the France squad for the World Cup, sparking rumours that he could look to move clubs in search of more regular playing time.
Former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho now looks set to take over at the Bernabeu and is likely to play a key role in whether the midfielder is allowed to move on.
